Some thoughts on this model
We are excited to offer this stunning Morgan Plus Four, a nod of admiration must be given to its original owner for commissioning such an exquisite example.
The Model
Morgan's today are very different to those of yesteryear, even if they still keep that classic 30's style. Don't let the oldy worldy looks fool you, Modern Morgans are an enticing blend of modern technology hidden underneath a traditional, hand-crafted, coach-built skin. A proper modern sports car dressed in a classic Savile Row suit.
The Plus Four is powered by a BMW 2.0 Turbo inline four (B48) engine, this delivers 255bhp and 295 lb-ft through an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission to the back wheels. The BMW engine is front mounted, albeit entirely behind the front axle enhancing handling characteristics. This powertrain is mounted to a modern bonded aluminium tub chassis, with double wishbone suspension all round. A common question is always about the use of wood on a Morgan, and this Morgan still uses ash wood the way they always have, there is an ash wood frame used to mount the hand beaten aluminium bodywork to the chassis.
The Morgan Plus Four delivers a composed and agile presence on the road. 255bhp is a lot of power, particularly for a car tipping the scales at just over 1,000kg, thankfully the modern chassis is more than capable of delivering that power in a confidence inspiring yet exciting manner. Whether you are after a car capable of long-distance touring, or more spirited driving down your favourite country road, the Plus Four is up to the task and ready to put a smile on your face.
The layout of the interior is logicial enought to make the driver feel instantly at home. Whilst the use of quality materials, the soundtrack of the engine, the feel through the steering wheel and your derrière (thanks to sitting right on the rear axle) means that every drive in a Plus Four is an event, every element works to deliver a fantastic driving experience. It's the perfect blend of classic car motoring paired with modern performance and delivery.
This Cars History
You don't order a Morgan, you commission one. This car was commissioned by its original, and only, owner to their own bespoke specification. Enormous care was taken to ensure this car is specified just right, they took delivery of the car in August 2022.
Beginning with the colour scheme, the paintwork on the car has been finished in Aston Martin's Ultramarine Black by special request. This colour initially looks black at first glance, however, when you approach closer and in the right light it reveals itself to be a beautifully deep metallic with a stunning blue flake to it with some very sublte hints of green. This is complimented by a blue hood and doors, as well as blue wing and nose beading, showing an eye for detail. The exterior of the car is finished off with stainless 16" wire wheels paired with three-eared knock-off nuts, Cibie LED spotlamps and clear indicators, all giving a very well judged look.
The interior is trimmed with cream leather which has a pebble grain, offering a brilliant contrast to the exterior colour, however there is also blue piping and blue embroidered Morgan logos to tie it all in with the exterior. The light leather is met with dark wood veneers to the centre console and the dashboard, this is finished off with a thick-rimmed wooden Motolita steering wheel which not only signs-off the interior sublimely, it also feels perfect in hand helping to really deliver that classic driving theatre. The dashboard is dominated by proper analogue guages, alongside tactile push buttons with only a subtle digital display showing some essential information, it is an interior that will age gracefully. There is technology present, but it is kept sensibly under the skin to preserve its timeless style.
The car has been serviced by Bell & Colvill in September 2023 at 650 miles, it has done just 1,200 miles since.
Final Overview
We have here a wonderfully specified Morgan Plus Four, its owner having done a sterling job commissioning such a carefully considered car. Having only covered less than 2,000 miles it is barely run-in and ready for a new custodian to create some memories in style.
The car is on-site and available for test drive, in fact we actively encourage it! Please do get in contact to book an appointment to view and drive.
