Some thoughts on this model
We are excited to offer for sale this stunning Ferrari F355 Berlinetta to the market. The F355 was an icon of 90's Ferrari thanks to its timeless Pinninfarina design, a high-revving 3.5 litre V8 and an analogue driving purity which is hard to replicate today. Celebrated by customers and journalists alike, it was famously described by Jeremy Clarkson as "the greatest car in the world, ever.", his glowing endorsement was backed up by his later descision to also own an F355.
The Model
The F355 was launched in 1994 at the Geneva Motorshow in replacement of the Ferrari 348. The F355 was a pioneering car for Ferrari and introduced a number of notable firsts for them including 5-valves-per-cylinder, the F1 gearbox (it was in Jeremy Clarksons review of the F355 where he coined the phrase "flappy paddles") and their first 6-speed manual gearbox as fitted to this car.
The car was launched to critical acclaim with reviewers at the time praising the car for its high-revving engine with its exhilarating exhaust note, its 6-speed geabox delivering crisp, engaging gearshifts and its outstanding chassis balance and suspension, all packaged in a sleek Pinninfarina design making it the car of the moment.
Fast forward thirty years and today the F355 is seen as a collectable and desirable car. Its combination of an analogue, engaging drive mixed with just the right amount of modernity to keep it approachable and usable helps enhance its appeal.
This Car
This car was originally supplied to Malaysia in 1995, it was later imported to the UK by its current owner in 2015. Therefore the car is right-hand drive but with a speedo reading in kilometers (which always makes it feel quicker!). The car presents very well with the paintwork being in good contition and the interior having been well cared for and remains supple to touch, it is likely to have been retrimmed at some point in its life. Some marks to the alloys may wish to be addressed by the new owner along with some stone chips as to be expected.
Since 2015, the current owner has covered only 2,000 kilometres. For him, much of the joy has been in simply having the car at home on display. To call it a garage doesn’t quite do it justice, it’s more of a lounge, a space where a few of his most treasured cars take pride of place, all heated of course. He recalls many evenings spent with music playing, quietly enjoying the ritual of polishing his Ferrari and the rest of his collection.
The the car was last serviced in 2024 at a local specialist. This service soon spiralled to cover more and more and in the end the following work was done:
In all, the work came to over £33,000 ensuring she is presented in fine mechanical fettle today, ready to be enjoyed.
Overview
What we have here is a Ferrari F355 with the all important gated manual transmission, ensuring it is a truly epic drivers car. This particular example is offered for sale following some very significant expenditure and presents wonderfully. Viewings and inspections are welcomed.
