Some thoughts on this model
Thrilled to welcome this truly exceptional Porsche 928 S4 SE to Redhill, as they represent to my mind, one of the world's finest touring cars and for the larger Anglo-Saxon like me, they offer plenty of comfort and space too!
For those of you who like to drill down on the detail, all of Porsche's 928 S4 SE's were built within a small window between March and July of 1988, using the same VIN sequence shared with the standard RHD 928 S4. Pleasingly there were no audacious graphics on this model, just a subtle "Sport" decal on its rear below the model insignia....for the real anoraks amongst us, the dual exhausts tips and forged alloy wheels courtesy of the Club Sport are further reference to the model !
Only 42 of this UK flagship model were built, aimed specifically at the truly enthusiastic driver and available in just 4 colours, Grand Prix White, Guards Red, Black and Silver metallic.
Additionally, these cars were fitted with a special exhaust system, limited-slip differential, close-ratio five-speed manual transmission, sport suspension, and a specially tuned 320 BHP, 32-valve engine with higher-profile camshafts.
The Porsche Certificate of Production states this car was built in May 88, supplied via official Porsche Centre, Douglas Cameron (Perth) Ltd on 1st August 1988...evidently supplied in Grand Prix white, remarkably the paint work remains virtually unblemished & completely original, as does the SE bespoke interior, which again is untouched and without damage, that said, the red pin-strip velour is a little faded but that's perfectly normal.
Condition & service history is certainly a prerequisite when considering any 928, thus this cars exemplary service record was one of the deciding factors for the owner, a very well informed classic Porsche owner when considering this vehicle. The service book contains stamps from OPC's and specialist alike, with recent service plus cambelt in last 1000 miles. In fact, all the history has been nicely collated on one excel spread sheet, its an impressive spend!
Its appeal was measurably increased by the fact Phil Hindley, proprietor of Porsche Specialist Tech 9, being the owner at the time....a thinking man's man, Phil has a loyal and dedicated following of likeminded Porsche owners.
The 928 is as good underneath as it is atop, there's a host of photos I can forward which clearly define this as something special.
The real test of course is behind the wheel, and I can attest that even sitting whilst stationary, it doesn't disappoint....it has one of industry's great facias, with instrumentation being beautifully clear and informative....turn the key and wonderful V8 emits a sonorous burble and without doubt it gets better as you drive....its totally additive.
There's a very well documented history file along with its original Porsche wallet containing all the correct books plus spare keys!
It would be a pleasure to answer any questions you might have. However, to really appreciate this Porsche, it needs to be seen “in the flesh”, so do please call me directly on 07788 865700 to arrange a viewing.
