Some thoughts on this model
The keeper of this Porsche is very well known to me as I've had the the good fortune and opportunity to find, broker and sell a few of his wonderful Porsche cars. His attention to detail and his quest for accuracy when purchasing makes the whole process infinitely straight forward, as only the best will pass muster.
The buying remit here was clearly defined, there was no allowance for any deviation from original specification nor evidence of corrosion or damage....preferably LHD and Polar Silver (A8A8) European delivered.
This late production 1993 RS certainly ticked all the boxes. Reassuringly, the Porsche COA confirmed nothing had changed from the original build; an inspection by a renowned Porsche specialist again alleviated any fears, infact, it was a resounding thumbs up, as all was original & correct plus matching.
Given the owners focus on perfection, the few stones chips to the front bonnet and flanks were the only visible signs of use, but nevertheless, did cause him some angst which was perhaps a good thing, as after his subsequent purchase, it allowed him to cover some fun fast roads miles before the RS went Tony Littlejohn of GTR Motorsport, (who's shop excels in lightweight Porsche paint & restoration) embarked upon a full bare metal repaint. Now flawless, this RS wants for nothing, having been serviced and motd just a few months ago.
Despite its performance and track focus, its a very credible road car with sensible mpg & range and in this case air con too ! That said, once behind the wheel and when pushing on, like all 'proper' 911s, you have to know when be subtle and when to grab it by the scruff of the neck, but the more assertive you are the more rewarding the RS becomes.
With Porsche celebrating its 70th Anniversary this year, popularity for the brand and its' halo cars such as this almost perfect 964 RS is undeniably high, and certainly a zenith moment in Porsche production history.
It would be a pleasure to answer any further questions you might have. This Porsche can be inspected at my Guildford showroom - please call me on 07788 865700.
