Some thoughts on this model
As you would expect there is a huge amount of information that I can readily impart and will happily forward upon request, that said, it's too detailed and comprehensive to list here, hopefully the next few paragraphs will give you some clear back ground to its thoroughly comprehensive build.
The 914 spent its life in California until it was imported to the UK as a restoration project in March 2011. Chassis # 4762902668 was manufactured in 1976, thus late in production as '76' was there final year of build.
The restoration took a breath taking 9-years and cost approximately £45,000.....of this amount, £17,000 was alone spent on its fully rebuilt engine and specially commissioned modern EFI system !
The 2.0 litre flat-four engine was professionally rebuilt by a renowned 914 specialist whose extensive works included modifying and replacing the cylinder heads, adding a new FF73 cam along with new 96 mm Keith Black pistons, making the total engine displacement 2056cc.
Notwithstanding this, they were further commissioned to build and install a brand new fuel injection system using an Omex 600 ECU, new injectors....I can attest that it certainly goes well with a more linear power delivery and plenty of performance on hand.
New parts were mainly sourced from Porsche in the UK, Mittelmotor (Germany), Auto Atlanta (USA). There is an inventory of invoices and parts to support the restoration work as well as multiple photos which are available upon request.
This huge expenditure involved totally stripping back this 914 to its base components, replacing what could be replaced with new and refurbishing what couldn’t. As a result, the car looks and drives like new.
Interior-wise the correct period trim for Porsche's lovely seats was recreated in the US and sent over here to recover by the owner himself... a remarkably good job in my opinion. Similarly the dashboard, usually the achille’s heel of any California car, has no cracks and its appearance is as-new. Nice to see the original Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio in situ, having been refurbished and its internals digitised.
The meticulous attention to detail is truly evident and rarely seen in a 914 Porsche whether restored or not, thus here's an opportunity to purchase a beautifully and accurately rebuilt Porsche at a smidgen of its cost.
It would be a pleasure to answer any questions you might have. However, to really appreciate this Porsche it needs to be seen “in the flesh”, so do please call me directly on 07788 865700 to arrange a viewing.
