Some thoughts on this model
This is a genuine C16 UK car supplied new in 1982 to Southern Ireland by Porsche Cars GB, as at the time the Republic of Ireland didn’t have its own distributor. It has spent all its life in Ireland and, due to both its originality and solid state, was deemed as a very sensible candidate for restoration by Jon Miller, the proprietor at Classic Carreras near Limerick. These works were undertaken for him personally, but later sold it to the last keeper in 2019.
Originally built as a Sport specification, it was restored without its rear spoiler, which is certainly more appealing in most peoples’ view nowadays. The model is a 1982 'C' Program car, thus the last and most powerful iteration of the SC, producing 204bhp.
Remaining in its original period colour of Chiffon White, the paintwork positively gleams, whilst the original Pasha interior is a delight to see and is in excellent original condition throughout.
Pleasingly there is a photographic account via a project diary plus a written record of the nut and bolt restoration.
Detailed below is just a sample of the work that has been undertaken :-
*Bare metal respray, except the engine bay and front compartment where the original paint/factory finish is retained, plus replacement of sills and kidney bowls;
*Full bottom and top end engine rebuild;
*Refurbishment of parts such as brake callipers, replacement of all rubbers, lenses, shocks, discs, pads, heat exchangers/exhaust;
*Wheels refurbished and four new tyres fitted; and
*The fitting of a superior ‘Classic Retrofit’ fuse panel (non-standard).
Further enhancing its originality and happily included in the sale is a rare three piece set of ‘Porsche Exclusive' luggage by Seeger from 1982. This was only available to special order and certainly not cheap option at the time!
As the preferred specialist, the well-respected Phil Hindley of Tech 9 has undertaken annual servicing and any miscellaneous work needed since it came to the UK at the start of 2019. With just 1,500 miles being completed since its restoration and full engine rebuild, it’s just run in. However, total original mileage now amounts to 125,458. Pleasingly, there is a detailed history file, plus a batch of 'as new' factory sales documentation/literature.
Today you would need deep pockets to find a suitable donor that's not rotten as a pear and then undertake works to this elevated level, as its accuracy and attention to detail would ultimately cost considerably more than this lovely 911 is being offered for.
