Porsche 911 2.4T

1973

Porsche
Delivered new in Italy in 1973, this very pretty and properly sorted 911 2.4T has, notwithstanding a brief stint down in the Sud de France, where it was the owner's daily driver, spent nearly half it's life here in the UK.

Julien's Perspective

Some thoughts on this model

Some of the previous owners have been seriously well known Porsche addicts, so from the copious invoices on file, it's evidently been very nicely maintained with the upside of both an engine and gearbox rebuild in its recent past. That said, it's the current owner who has thrown caution to the wind, and undertaken a 3 year rolling restoration.

Stripped to a bare shell, it was assessed and considered worthwhile to replace both sills, kidney bowls, and an assortment of other body items that can only be done whilst in this naked state.....pleasingly, there is a complete photographic record of this process. Reassembly has included over £6,500 of new parts alone, excluding the heroic cost of the new body panels and the subsequent first class repaint. Further expenditure has focused on the engine and in particular the carburettors, which were sent away to be rebuilt by Andy Prill, whilst brake calipers have been stripped and rebuilt with new seals, and so on; the list is endless. The dash and interior were in fine fettle but a new carpet set has lifted it further, whilst a pair of Recaro 's adorn now a pretty much perfect cabin.

This has not been a rushed job, in fact almost all of the reassembly has taken place at the owner's workshop, a superb and enviable facility, manned by his own full time technician, who when not bent over this 911, is lucky enough to work upon some other first class Porsche cars too.

These 2.4 T's being the least powerful of the trio of models of this era still produce circa 140 bhp and also boast the newer type standard H pattern (915) transmission, which in tandem produce a great drive, something now the salt has gone from our roads, I can attest to !!

It would be a pleasure to answer any further questions you might have. This 911 can be inspected at my Guildford showroom - please call me on 07788 865700.
