Acquired in 2001 having spent 30 years in storage, the car was in need of a total ground up restoration; this was entrusted to Sportwagen and work commenced in May 2002. There it remained for over 2 years during which time no expense was spared in creating a truly excellent car.

Although remaining faithfully observant to the original manufacturer's specification, 52 KGG was rebuilt to standards well in excess of the original Porsche factory spec and build quality. In particular, all of the seams have been welded shut and the interior closed sections of the body have been sealed with oil wax to deter any moisture and subsequent corrosion. All of the instruments were overhauled in the US by Palo Alto.

When it came to the engine rebuild, it was decided that none other than maestro 356 technician and engine builder, Harry Pellow of California would do. The end result is a bespoke engine with substantial power and torque upgrades that offers superb increased performance and approximately 115 BHP. In addition, the transmission was overhauled and rebuilt by Mike Smith of PR Services, whilst the interior was perfectly fitted and finished by Neil Tabman.

For those 356 enthusiasts who are in the know, Harry Pellow was the centre of excellence and a fountain of knowledge on all aspects of Porsche 356. Sadly, soon after completing this engine, Harry died and it is probable that this engine was the last he built to order.

The whole project was completed and delivered to the last but one owner in July 2004 and the odometer was reset to zero; current mileage is 16,900. Following the restoration it has been used on major European and Alpine tours performing effortlessly and cruises at motorway speeds with consummate ease.There is a huge history file covering every penny spent throughout the entire restoration including a catalogue of the works, invoices and parts used by Harry Pellow, Sportwagen and PRS.

A truly wonderful and rare Porsche that has been completely restored by the most experienced and highly respected marque specialists.
