This exceptional Fraser-Nash BMW was delivered to Hugh Curling Hunter in July 1937, and is believed to have been the seventh 328 delivered into the UK via AFN Ltd. It was first registered with Hunter's private number DXV 3 on 9th July 1937, and this number is retained to this day.

H C Hunter was a prominent pre-war 'gentleman racer' and his racing trophies and other memorabilia are preserved today at the Brooklands Motor Museum in an exhibit entitled 'a racing driver's study'. Immediately before the outbreak of war, Hunter was simultaneously campaigning the 328, an Alta, and an Alfa-Romeo 8C 2900B. He owned an astonishing number of high-performance motor cars during his lifetime.

The 328 was subsequently owned by (among others) Kenneth Watkins OBE (later a works driver for Allard), Nicholas Green (brother of Willie Green), Richard Melville-Smith, Alain de Cadenet, Brian Classic, and Carol Spagg.

The car remained in the UK until it was acquired in 1980 by Peter Briggs, at which point it was shipped to Western Australia to become part of his extensive collection at the York Motor Museum. The car was a regular participant in the York Flying Fifty races during the 1980s. It was subsequently acquired in 1991 by a prominent private collector in Vancouver, Canada and repatriated to the UK in 2002 by the present owner.

Following its repatriation to the UK, the car was extensively renovated by the well-regarded pre-war BMW expert Mark Garfitt, and has been maintained by Mitchell Motors Ltd who have extensive experience in preparing and racing 328s in historic events such as the Le Mans Classic.

DXV 3 is generally considered to have the most extensive history file of any the Frazer-Nash BMW 328s. Impressively the ownership is fully-documented from 1937 to the present day. The exceptional and simply huge history file extends to twelve large ring-binders, including original purchase invoice dated 1937, extensive pre-war invoices and correspondence between H C Hunter and AFN Ltd and RR Jackson Ltd of Brooklands relating to race preparation and work carried out on the car. In addition, it appears in many reference books, all of which are documented in the extensive history file.

DXV 3 has during the present custodian's ownership participated in a 70th anniversary run to Munich as a guest of BMW, the 2014 Hamburg-Berlin Klassik Rallye, as well as numerous UK & European events.
