Some thoughts on this model
Pre-war cars have always featured in this family's life but after a few years of ownership "drought", a casual squint through some classic motoring ads, ideally for a Riley, this 1921 Model T was noticed, inspected and quickly snapped up in preference!
There is not much known about it prior to its arrival in England back in 1993. Certainly it didn't need a great deal of fettling, apart from general servicing, until 2017, when it was rewired, new bands fitted to the gearbox along with a new dynator fitted to replace the dynamo, all of which was undertaken by Tuckett Brothers, the leading Ford Model T authority and specialist in the UK.
It has not travelled more than 200 miles since this work was carried out but remains on the button...this is something I can attest to having been out a couple of times recently and enjoyed a few miles as a passenger ! I did however take a couple of videos of our "runs", so can happily forward these to any potential purchaser prior to any viewing.
I guess our equivalent period car would be the venerable Austin 7. Owning a 1930 example myself I can certainly vouch the ride is similar, but the Model T certainly offers more passenger space, and performance dare I say it, isn't too drastically different either.
Pleasingly Gerald wishes to be on hand for any viewing to impart his wisdom and given his engineering back ground, this easily exceeds mine!
This is a really rewarding 100 year old car to own that offers virtually unmatched exclusivity at an absurdly low price point.
It would be a pleasure to answer any questions you might have. However, to really appreciate this car it needs to be seen “in the flesh” thus I can arrange viewing locally in Dorking - please call me directly on 07788 865700.
