Some thoughts on this model
The Bentley Continental R Mulliner combines the longer wheelbase and passenger space of the Continental R with the wide body and greater power of the Continental T. This example is in exceptional condition with a huge history file detailing a no-expense spared level of car.
This Car
Finished in Peacock Blue with a black leather interior featuring turned aluminium detailing, the car looks simply stunning, the flared arches of the wide-body Continental R Mulliner hint towards the cars extra menace. Said menace is backed up by the uprated version of the 6.75 litre turbo V8, now producing 420bhp, enough to devour almost anything in its day and still considered serious fire power today.
The bodywork is fantastic condition with very little wear, and the paintwork is showing depth and clarity. The interior has also clearly been cherished with all materials and surfaces in very good order.
Here at Ranmore we are a fan of cars that come with significant history files, and this is another addition to our stock which comes with less of a history file, more of a historic tome! Not only does the file include the expected wealth of well-documented service history and invoices (totalling over £50,000 across the cars lifetime), but it also includes wonderful items such as the original sales brochure for the model, a press information dossier and a beautiful coffee table book called Bentley Continentals of the Nineties which features a stunning turned aluminium front cover to match the car’s interior.
This Model
The Bentley Continental R Mulliner represents the ultimate evolution of Bentley’s celebrated grand tourer, combining traditional British luxury with formidable performance. Introduced in 1999, the Mulliner received the 420 bhp specification of the Continental T, together with distinctive wide-body styling, wider tyres and revised steering. Yet, unlike the shorter-wheelbase T, it retained the Continental R’s generous proportions and luxurious four-seat accommodation. Handcrafted in Crewe and produced in exceptionally limited numbers, the Continental R Mulliner occupies a special place in Bentley’s modern history, offering a compelling blend of exclusivity, effortless performance and unmistakable presence.
Summary
The Continental R Mulliner represents a fantastic blend of all the best bits of the Continental range; the more imposing styling, the extra grunt, fast-road tuned suspension and useable space for four. We have here a very well maintained example, in great condition, making it the one to have.
