I thought it rather fitting to use a short but concise history written by the current owner of this wonderful Aston Martin DB2/4 MKIII, rather than chapter and verse from me.

Julien's Perspective

Some thoughts on this model

" One of 552 cars of this model, " 500 CHU " was first registered in July 1958 and was based around the Bristol area until September 1975. There is no record of the car's whereabouts for the next 20 years until April 1995 when it was owned by a Grace Kelly in Virginia, USA. It was sold 5 years later and brought back to England. There have been 3 owners, including me, since then.

I bought the car in December 2004 whilst my husband was half way across the Atlantic in a yacht race. In 2005 it spent 11 months off the road undergoing extensive mechanical refurbishment - a rebuilt engine, new clutch and work on the rear suspension and steering.

It was my husband's dream to drive the car to the South of France. Sadly, he didn't live to fulfill that dream, so in 2008 my daughter and I drove 500 CHU the 880 miles from Guildford to Monaco to celebrate the car's birthday.

" CHU " as she is affectionately known, is driven regularly and takes part in club events and rallies ".

There has been a large emphasis on continued works to improve the driving quality of the car which has a lovely and faithful patination, something that only can be derived from continued and regular road use. There is an extensive history dating from its return to the UK with major and onward works being carried out by Four Ashes Garage Ltd, Trinity Engineering, Davrone and for the last 6 years, Chicane Classics.

Importantly on file is a certified extract of the ' Licencing Date ' from Aston Martin Dorset, which confirms this is a matching number car.
